Pevely, MO (October 2, 2004) I-55 Raceway had one of the largest gathering of race cars in it's history as 143 cars signed in to compete in the three divisions. Cold weather also settled in on the track as the temperature dropped into the lower 40's before the races were completed. The U.M.P. (United Midwestern Promoters) Late Models Challenge of Champions Series were the showcase division as they were competing for a $15, 000 top prize. The night got started with Justin Allgaier breaking the track record with a lap of 12.610 seconds. The record had been held by Donnie Moran who had set the record just two weeks earlier with a lap of 12.803 seconds. The record had stood for eight years before Moran broke it. Dennis Erb picked up the $15, 000 top prize as he led all forty laps of the main event. Erb held off the challenges of …

By Bret Emrick Don O’Neal of Martinsville, IN scored his third Stacker 2® Xtreme DirtCar Series main event of the season Saturday pocketing the $10, 000 to win “22nd Annual Pepsi Nationals” at I-55 Speedway in Pevely.MO. Starting ninth aboard the A1 Auto Salvage/Living Room Center No. 71 Don O’Neal Racing C.J. Rayburn Race Cars/Jay Dickens Racing Engines Chevrolet Monte Carlo, the “Real Deal” grabbed the lead from Earl Pearson Jr. while working heavy lapped traffic in turn four on lap 18 and never looked back pulling out to a nearly 25 car length lead at the finish. Matt Miller, who led laps 11 and 12, finished in the runner-up spot with 14th starting Jimmy Mars third, 16th starting Darren Miller fourth and Pearson Jr. fifth. Rounding out the top ten finishers were Billy Drake in sixth trailed by Billy Moyer, 23rd starting Steve Shaver, Mike Marlar and Shannon Babb. “It just …

Pevely, MO (September 11, 2004) A full field of cars in every division provided some exciting action for all the fans in attendance. It was the final points event at I-55 Raceway and two division titles were decided during tonight's action. With the track surface being very smooth and very fast, the U.M.P. (United Midwestern Promoters) Late Model division took to the track for their main event first. Billy Faust took the early lead from the pole position and led the first three laps before Ed Dixon moved past him for the lead. Faust and Dixon would battle for the lead for several laps, with Kevin Gundaker joining the duo up front and making it a three way battle early on. Brian Shirley was on the move as well and he soon disposed of Gundaker and took the third spot. Just a few laps later, Shirley moved past Faust and …

Pevely, MO (September 4, 2004) Season Championship night brought out a full field of cars in all divisions at I-55 Raceway. In the U.M.P. (United Midwestern Promoters) Late Model division, it was Ed Dixon taking the win and securing the championship. Danny Haynes jumped out to the early lead from the pole position. Haynes led the first five laps before he jumped over the cushion and got into the wall in turn two. Haynes fell back to fifth before he could recover as Brian Wolfmeier assumed the lead. Wolfmeier would only lead for a couple of laps before Dixon would move past on the high side. Wolfmeier continued to battle back and challenge Dixon throughout the event. But he also had to contend with Tim Ratajczyk for the second position. A late caution with just two laps remaining would give Wolfmeier and Ratajczyk another shot at Dixon, but it wasn't …

Pevely, MO (August 21, 2004) Ed Dixon put on a stunning performance in the United Midwestern Promoter (U.M.P.) Late Model division. The feature started off bad for Dixon on the first lap when pole sitter Matt Taylor broke coming out of turn two. Taylor and Dixon made some contact which resulted in a left rear flat tire on Dixon's car. Dixon would get the flat changed during the caution period and restart at the rear of the field. Kyle Steffens jumped out to the early lead on the second restart. Steffens would lead the early laps until Billy Faust moved past him on lap six. Steffens suffered mechanical problems soon after and pulled out of the event. Faust appeared to be cruising to victory as Dixon was passing car after car while working his way to the front. Pevely, MO (August 14, 2004) Brian Wolfmeier raced to his first victory of 2004 at I-55 Raceway in the U.M.P. (United Midwestern Promoters) Late Model division. Wolfmeier started on the inside of the second row and moved past early leader Danny Haynes on lap seven. Haynes would pressure Wolfmeier for the lead throughout the event, but Wolfmeier went on to take the win. Tim Ratajczyk, Mark Oller and Bruce Unterbrink battled and swapped positions throughout the entire event as they battled for the third spot. Ratajczyk edged out Oller for the third spot, Unterbrink followed Oller across the line to take fifth. Kevin Gundaker and Kyle Steffens won the qualifying heats. The dash turned what looked to be a promising night for both drivers into a rough night for both. Gundaker was leading the dash with Steffens right on his heels when Gundaker spun in turn two on lap six. …

By WoO Sprint PR Pevely, MO Danny Lasoski got the best of Kraig Kinser and Joey Saldana in an action-packed World of Outlaws 40 lap A-feature Saturday night at I-55 Raceway. Lasoski used a low side move on lap 37 to get his sixth win of the season, and his first World of Outlaws victory at I-55. Pole-sitter Joey Saldana took the lead at the drop of the green flag, with outside front row starter Mark Kinser following in second, and Donny Schatz passing Steve Kinser for third. Fifth-starting Kraig Kinser began moving forward on lap 3, using the bottom of the speedway to pass his father Steve for fourth, then getting by Schatz for third and overtaking Mark Kinser for second by lap 5. Saldana caught up to slower traffic a lap later, but was able to maintain a 10 carlength advantage, while both Schatz and Steve Kinser got …
